I have a brand new class launching tomorrow on Creativebug! This one is 30 days of flowers. New content, new techniques. (Not in depth like Painting Petals, these are different/quick exercises, just happens to be the same subject.) Simple daily lessons to help encourage and inspire making on the regular! Happy mail is in the house!!! I’ve received my contributor’s copies of Botanica, the latest publication by socks伟理 in their Encyclopedia of Inspiration series and wow, it sure doesn’t disappoint!
It’s 448 pages of artists and craftspeople and what they make inspired by botanicals. I’m one of the 78(!) artists and makers and am honored to have not only my floral paintings and thoughts included, but to have a bookmark made from one of my paintings included in each order that goes out. Super cool!

I’m one of the included artists that paints florals, but there are also florists, paper florists, flower growers, flower arrangers, surface designers and on and on it goes. Very inspiring and pretty.

We'd love to have you join us for a week in Orvieto, Italy, one of the most magical places I've ever spent a week creating and playing! Amy Hanna and I will once again be joining Kristi and Bill of Adventures in Italy for a travel journal/sketching/bracelet making class. Of course, there's lots more to it, like delicious meals and clever company, wine tasting, culinary class, visits to a marble paper studio and a shoemaker, weekly local market, resting, creating, sightseeing and more.
We did a similar class two years ago and such a great group joined us. Some of them have already claimed a spot for this go round. Here are some photos of my art journal from that trip:
I shared tons of photos of Orvieto from our previous Italy class here . Gah!!! Scrolling through them gets me soooo excited! It's easy to put off excitement when it's so far away, but seeing the photos brings it all front and center. Such a special place, and Bill and Kristi, the owners of Adventures in Italy have been hosting groups like ours for over 10 years now, they really know everyone and get us into special places. I'm pretty sure they have decided to retire after this year, so if you want to come to class there with us, this is it!
This year we are going to be making travel journals based on the ever popular traveler's notebook style:

One of my favorite accomplishments of this past year is getting my Painting Petals class out into the world. It was such a big project for me, and I am super proud of it. I love this class, and from the lovely feedback I've gotten from students, I am not alone. (Thank you, thank you to those of you that have joined me in class!)

All the content is readily available, so you can pace yourself or binge watch. There is still plenty of time to go through all the content at least a time or two before class closes. (FYI, Class will remain on sale until the end of the year, but will not be reduced further. I do anticipate a re-release at full price in Spring or Summer of 2017.)

At long last, my very first self-hosted online class is ready to share. I am thrilled to finally be able to present my floral based e-course, Painting Petals, to the world!
I've been infatuated with flowers for as long as I can remember. Growing them, arranging them and creating with them as inspiration. They make their way into nearly all of my artwork, whether it's in my paintings, art journals, or any number of craft projects. This ongoing life-long love affair with flowers made it a natural choice for my first online class. I can't wait to share all the methods, materials and techniques I use in my floral artwork with you!
If you follow me on Instagram, you are well aware of my never ending petal love. It's undeniable, I'm crazy for florals!
I look forward to sharing with you so many different ways you can express yourself with floral art. My hope is that by joining me in this 5-week lesson and project-based class, you'll be inspired and informed by my love of flowers and art making into creating your very own unique works of art. The imaginative drawing and loose painting I'll be teaching will bring a freedom and ease to your current artistic work. No matter your skill set, novice to professional, you'll learn how to capture leaves & petals in playful, spontaneous, original ways. Our focus here will be on impressionistic works of art; beautiful, expressive florals!
During class you'll see me create using liquid watercolors, colored inks, inexpensive acrylic craft paints, markers, pens and more. A full supply list will be furnished in class, both a general and specific list for each lesson and project. If you have any sort of an art practice now, you should be fine with your current stash of supplies. I have tried plenty of supplies and will share my favorites with you. Substitutes and alternatives are encouraged for artistic development, and the benefits of doing so will be demonstrated. We are certainly going to be breaking some rules and overriding preconceived notions!

Where does the time go? Same old tune for everyone it seems: by too quickly! I am grateful a ton of my time passing is spent in creative pursuit. This weekend will be no different as I'll be sharing more of my ideas, inspirations, exercises, methods and madness while teaching at Donna Downey's dreamy studio in North Carolina. Three days chock-full of fun and play. As I've barely promoted it, (that time flying thing wins the battle sometimes, ok, a lot of the time) there's still a few spots; if any of you are feeling spontaneous, we'd love to have you join us!

Hello out there! How goes things? Over here, I've still been lost in a world of painting and learning and painting some more. It's been a fun period of challenge and growth; at times frustrating when my skills don't align with my ideas, but overall, exhilarating to be experiencing the process of creative exploration and development.
One thing I am improving at is finishing and getting some listed, both on my etsy, pamg.etsy.com and some for auction on my pamgarrisonpaintstudio ig account. Here's the most recently auctioned piece:
Just like I have felt before, it feels bittersweet to be sending this one off to it's new home. I'm glad to have them go to good homes, and of course, I need the money to feed my painting supply funds, but I'll miss it too, I spend so much time with each one that it feels a little like a love affair. I wonder how many years I will have to paint, how many paintings I will have to sell, for the attachment to each piece to lesson. I'm betting that those that paint and sell in collections might feel that way about collections as a whole, but not so much each individual one. Or maybe when I understand my own painting process better, each one won't feel like I'll never be able to repeat something similar. Who knows, I'm just rambling on. As I paint and sell, these are just some of the thoughts that go through my head.
As you can see, flowers still have a very strong pull for me.
If you are joining me at the end of September at Donna Downey's studio, we'll be doing some painting over the 3 day class...be forewarned... you might find yourself falling down the same rabbit hole that I find myself in. At least it's a very fun and creative one! xo
It's here! The full reveal of my December Daily® 2016 mini kit. I seriously had the best time designing this kit. It opened up a whole new creative world to me- designing product in a way that I had never really participated before. I thoroughly loved it. I'm excited to be able to show you the whole thing vs. just the sneaks. I was going for a very artist inspired kit- meaning lots of designs based on artwork, be it illustrations, or stamps I've carved, watercolor art etc. etc.
This year each mini kit had the same basic elements: 4 6x8 papers with plain grid design on the back, 31 journal cards and a selection of embellishment items. In this picture I've already taken my kit's washi tape and applied it to the pink stripes on that paper. I decided after receiving the kit I liked it better that way... for now anyway ;). I think that the full page of stars is my favorite paper. That was all designed digitally.
The 31 journal cards are made up of 3x4 or 4x6 sizes. This is side A of mine above and here is side B:
Here is the A side of the 3x4 cards in my kit. Lots of pen work, watercolors, digital design, stamp carving, illustration, etc.
And here is the B side. I've already taken colored markers to the stars (third one top row), and used the stamp set in the kit to make the holly card (row 2, 4th card), stars, (row 3, 1st card) and snowflakes (row 4, 4th card.) I like to alter things as you know. ;)
This side of the stars is just the grey and white when the kit arrives. I used pen here but also think watercolor, gouache or colored pencils would be great.
And here is where I was adding the washi tape from my kit to the 6x8 paper...you can see it as it comes on the last row there. Side note, how great is that Merry album designed by Jasmine Jones from this year's offerings? Love it. I also love the 2 other 6x8 albums offered. I'm a 6x8 DD album girl.
I started stamping the back of the B side of the cards. I used the stamp set I designed for the kit and Ali's Crafter's Inks to stamp them and I really like them. They are very wet and easy to apply evenly, and from my experience they dried quickly on paper.
The embellishments are one of my favorite parts of any kit and so I was thrilled to get to pick which embellishment types I wanted to be in my kit and design them. Star die cuts, some with gold foil, chipboard shapes with sayings in gold foil, star washi tape and a gold alpha with lots of repeat letters for my kit.
I started playing with it to get some in use photos, and I can't wait for December already. I wanted to confirm for myself that my bright, festive colors would go with traditional holiday colors so I grabbed some pages from a previous December Daily® I have. Yep, to me, it totally works!

I am super excited to see how they put these pieces to use. I've placed my order and am patiently waiting until October...no need to rush those holidays, now that I've got my plans made, I can go ahead and enjoy our last days of summer and the beginning of fall too!
